Bye Bye Mysore

Today is about my trip home to Bangkok. My last practice was on Tuesday February 6. After practice, had breakfast and did a final packing. The car arrived to pick me up at 2.30 pm. And then my trip home started.

ก็มาเขียนเล่าเกี่ยวกับการเดินทางกลับบ้านครับวันนี้ อาร์ตฝึกวันสุดท้ายก็วันอังคารที่ 6 ครับ ฝึกเสร็จ กินข้าวก็แพ็คของที่เหลือ แล้วก็รอรถมารับประมาณบ่ายสองครึ่งครับ


The road that link Bangalore and Mysore, apart from an occational idiotic speed bump, is really in good condition.

ถนนที่เชื่อมระหว่าง Bangalore กับ Mysore ครับ สภาพดีทีเดียว แต่ไม่ค่อยเข้าใจเรื่องลูกระนาดบนถนนจริง ๆ ถนนไฮเวย์ระหว่างเมืองแบบนี้ไม่น่ามี รถเบรคกันอุดตลุด อันตรายจะตาย

At average speed around 80 kpm, it took a little bit over 2 hours to arrive in Bangalore's downtown. At almost 5 pm, Bangalore's traffic is quite hectic.

คนขับรถก็ขับมาประมาณ 80 ก็ใช้เวลา 2 ชั่วโมงนิด ๆ ก็มาถึง Bangalore ครับ ก็เกือบ ๆ 5 โมงเย็นแล้วตอนนั้น รถก็เริ่มติดบ้างแล้วหล่ะ ถ้าดูจากรูปจะเห็นว่าคนอินเดียเขาไม่รู้จักคำว่า "เลน" ครับ มีช่องตรงไหนฉันก็แทรกเข้าไปตรงนั้นเลย


The MG Road. this one looks neat. Look like Manhattan's Park Avenue to me. There is a big park on the left. Bangalore has a big green area (by Indian standard) , hence the name "the Garden City".

แต่ถนนสายนี้ดูดีเหมือนกัน อย่างกับถนนเลียบ Central Park ในนิวยอร์คเลย Bangalore เนี่ยมีพื้นที่สีเขียวอยู่เยอะเหมือนกันเมื่อเทียบกับเมืองอื่น ๆ ของอินเดีย ก็เลยมีชื่อเล่นของเมืองว่า Garden City แต่ลองสังเกตุดู บนถนนหลักใจกลางเมืองแบบนี้ แต่ไม่มี "เลน" ครับ


I arrived at the Leela Palace Kempinski Hotel around 5.15pm. Got some recommendation from fellow ashtangi to stop here for a nice dinner. The hotel is quite near the airport. So it is a convenient stop on your way home. Look at the Hotel guest, it is more oriented toward businesspeople. But it may not look as flashy inside the hotel. The lobby starts to see sign of wear and tear. It might need a refurbishment soon. There is a small shopping mall inside the hotel.

ก่อนจะไปสนามบิน ก็มาแวะที่โรงแรม Leela Palace Kempinski ครับ มาถึงโรงแรมประมาณห้าโมงสิบห้าได้ (ใช้เวลาเกือบ ๆ 3 ชั่วโมงจาก Mysore) ได้รับคำแนะนำจากหลาย ๆ คนให้มาแวะกินข้าวที่นี่ก่อน คิดว่าน่าจะเป็นโรงแรมที่หรูที่สุดใน Bangalore นะ ประมาณเวลา Bill Gates มาที่ Bangalore ก็มาพักที่นี่ แต่ดูข้างในโรงแรมตรง lobby ก็ธรรมดา ๆ ดูเก่า ๆ อยู่เหมือนกัน คิดว่าใกล้ถึงเวลาปรับปรุงตกแต่งใหม่แล้วหล่ะ ข้างในก็มี shopping mall เล็ก ๆ ให้เดินดูของด้วย



The hotel has a couples of restaurant. But only 'Citrus' is open all day. So I had dinner there that day. It has international food selection. The food is a la carte style.

ที่นี่ก็มีร้านอาหารอยู่ 3-4 ร้าน แต่มีร้านนี้คือ Citrus ร้านเดียวที่เปิดตลอดวัน ถ้าบังเอิญมาตรงเวลา lunch หรือ dinner ก็จะมีอีกร้านนึงที่น่าสนใจขายอาหารเอเชียหลากหลายชาติ สำหรับร้านนี้ก็เป็นอาหารตะวันตกครับ ก็ใช้วิธีสั่งเอาจากเมนู



I already heard you guys laugh when you see what I ordered. Pathetic, I know. I didn't feel like having a pasta or pizza at the time, also not a big fan of seafood, and steak price looks pricey to me. The quality of beef is quite good. It is one of a few time I had meat in India, really enjoy it. This dish costs 500 rupees (around 425 Baht). For those of you who consider stop here for a nice meal, here is my verdict. If you're already did a lot of eating out in fancy restaurant or five-star hotel at home, you'll have a good time here. If not and you're not that desperate in having these kind of food, then don't bother. It is only a few hours away from home at this point in your trip. You'll probably find something nicer at better value at home anyway. To be honest, when compare to a high-end restaurant here in Bangkok, it has nothing to write home about. Actually I came here just for the sake of it. I don't think I'm gonna stop here again next time.


After finishing my burger and a big basket of french fries, I felt quite full. So I didn't try their dessert. I left the hotel around 6.45pm. And it took me less than 10 minutes to reach the airport.

5555 คาดว่าหลังจากที่หลาย ๆ คนเห็นว่าอาร์ตสั่งอะไรมากิน คงจะคิดว่าเอาอีกแล้วเหรอ เมนูสิ้นคิดเนี่ย แต่ก็นะ ตอนนั้นไม่ค่อยรู้สึกอยากจะกินพวกพาสต้าหรือพิซซ่าเท่าไหร่ พวกอาหารทะเลก็ไม่เคยชอบกินอยู่แล้ว ส่วนเสต็กก็ดูราคาแพงเว่อร์ ๆ อยู่ ก็เลยสั่งเมนูสิ้นคิดเนี่ยแหล่ะ คุณภาพเนื้อก็ใช้ได้เลย มื้อนี้เป็นหนึ่งในไม่กี่มื้อที่ได้กินเนี้อสัตว์ ก็อร่อยทีเดียวแหล่ะ สำหรับจานนี้ก็มีเฟร้นช์ ฟราย ตะกร้าใหญ่ ๆ มาให้ด้วย ราคาก็ 500 รูปี (ประมาณ 425 บาท) ถ้าใครคิดว่าอยากจะมาแวะกินข้าวที่นี่บ้าง อาร์ตคิดอย่างนี้ ถ้าตอนอยู่เมืองไทย ชอบไปกินร้านอาหารหรู ๆ บ่อย ๆ อยู่แล้ว มานี่ก็คงชอบใช้ได้เลยหล่ะ แต่ถ้าแบบนี้ไม่ใช่สไตล์ แล้วไม่รู้สึกว่าตัวเองอยากจะกินอาหารฝรั่งจนทนไม่ไหว ก็ไม่จำเป็นต้องมา เพราะว่ายังไงก็จะกลับถึงบ้านอยู่แล้วน่าจะทนกันไหว อาหารที่กรุงเทพดีกว่านี้ แต่ราคาสมเหตุสมผลกว่า ถ้าเทียบกับร้านดี ๆ ในกรุงเทพ ที่นี่ก็ถือว่าธรรมดามาก ๆ แต่สำหรับอาร์ตแล้ว มื้อนี้ก็เฉย ๆ เพราะมากินเพราะอยากจะรู้ว่าเป็นยังไงเท่านั้นแหล่ะ คิดว่าทริปหน้าคงจะไม่แวะกินที่นี่อีก


หลังจากที่กินเบอร์เกอร์เสร็จ ก็ค่อนข้างอิ่มแล้ว เลยไม่ได้ลองชิมของหวาน ออกจากโรงแรมก็ประมาณซัก หกโมงสี่สิบห้า ใช้เวลาไม่ถึงสิบนาทีก็ไปถึงสนามบิน



Arrive at the airport around 7 pm. Only passengers are allowed inside the terminal building. There are guards checking passengers' ticket at the entrance of the terminal. My flight departure time is 10.30pm. Check-in starts 3 hour before departure. So I have to wait outside for a while until they let TG's passengers in at 7.30pm. Once inside, people here seems to not heard of the 'queue' concept before. IT IS REALLY A MESS. Fortunately for me, the business class check-in counter do the trick. But it did take a good 15 minutes to check-in a group in front of me in the queue. The airport has minimal facilities. No lounge for airlines frequent flyer elite member or business class passenger. No restaurant (only a 'Cafe Today' open). No anything. But a few duty free shops is open. So you're better eat before if you plan to come to the airport early. To make it worse, my TG flight was delayed by an hour and a half. It took off at midnight. So I spent almost 5 hours at the airport.

มาถึงสนามบินประมาณหนึ่งทุ่มครับ สนามบินในอินเดียเนี่ยจะอนุญาตให้เฉพาะผู้โดยสารเท่านั้นที่จะเข้าไปในตัวอาคารได้ หน้าประตูจะมียามคอยตรวจตั๋วเครื่องบินอยู่ แล้วเขาจะเปิด check-in ก่อนแค่ 3 ชั่วโมง อย่างคืนนั้น flight ออก สีทุ่มครึ่ง เพราะฉะนั้นเขาก็เริ่มให้ผู้โดยสารการบินไทยเข้าไปในตัวอาคารตอนหนึ่งทุ่มครึ่ง เลยต้องยืนรออยู่พักนึง เพราะฉะนั้นอย่าเผื่อเวลาไปเยอะเกิน เพราะอาจต้องไปยืนแหง่วไม่มีอะไรทำอยู่ข้างนอก พอเข้าไปแล้วก็สับสนวุ่นวายมาก เพราะคิวรอเช็คอินเละเทะมาก ซึ่งอาจจะทำให้เครียดพอสมควรเพราะแซงคิวกันอุดตลุด ข้างในสนามบินก็ไม่มีอะไรเท่าไหร่ มีร้านกาแฟ Cafe Today เปิดอยู่ แล้วก็มีดิวตี้ฟรีเปิดอยู่ร้านนึง ไม่มีร้านอาหาร เพราะฉะนั้นแวะทานอาหารที่ใดที่หนึ่งใน Bangalore ไปก่อนก็ดี วันนั้นก็ซวยอีกเล็กน้อย เพราะ flight ดีเลย์ไปอีกหนึ่งชั่วโมงครึ่ง ตกลงกว่าเครื่องจะออกก็เที่ยงคืน สรุปว่าวันนั้นใช้เวลาอยู่ในสนามบิน 5 ชั่วโมง

In-flight food. I had stir-fried prawn in chilli. This is the first Thai food I've had in a month (apart from a couples of 'mama' brought from home).

ขึ้นมาบนเครื่องก็ได้กินอาหารไทยเป็นมื้อแรกในรอบหนึ่งเดือน (ถ้าไม่นับมาม่าที่เอาไป 3-4 ห่อกันเบื่ออาหารแขก) ได้กินแล้วก็หายคิดถึงอาหารไทยไปพอสมควรเลย

The plane landed at the new airport around 5am. Unlike the departure area, I think the arrival floor of the new airport looks really nice. Plenty of taxi with no queue at the taxi stand. Arrive home around 6.15am, take the time to clean my house, wash my car, do the laundry. Then I slept for a few hours and ready for my life again here in Thailand.

I think I'm gonna write one more blog entry about Mysore. It will be a summary of what I like or don't like about this trip and some recommendation for those of you who consider going to Mysore. I'm gonna update my blog if there is something interesting here like a workshop with senior ashtanga teacher. เครื่องมาถึงกรุงเทพตอนตีห้า โดยส่วนตัวค่อนข้างชอบบริเวณขาเข้าของสุวรรณภูมินะ โดยรวมแล้วงานตกแต่งต่าง ๆ ดูเรียบร้อยดี ไม่เละเทะเหมือนขาออก มาถึงตอนเช้ามืออยู่นี่ดี๊ดี immigration ไม่มีคนเลย รอกระเป๋าก็แป๊บเดียว แท็กซี่ก็เพียบ วันนั้นถึงบ้านซักหกโมงสิบห้าได้มั๊ง มาถึงบ้านก็ทำความสะอาดบ้าน ล้างรถ ซักผ้า แล้วก็นอนไปซักสามสี่ชั่วโมง ตื่นมาก็พร้อมแล้วครับกับกรุงเทพ

คิดว่าจะเขียนบล็อกอีกครั้งนึงเกี่ยวกับเรื่อง Mysore เป็นการสรุปว่าชอบไม่ชอบอะไรบ้าง แล้วก็คำแนะนำต่าง ๆ สำหรับคนที่วางแผนจะไป หลังจากนี้ก็คงจะไม่ได้เขียนอะไรเพิ่มเติมเท่าไหร่ แต่ก็อาจจะมีบ้างถ้ามีครูที่น่าสนใจจากต่างประเทศมาสอน สุดท้ายนี้ก็ขอขอบคุณทุก ๆ คนครับที่ติดตามอ่านกันมา แล้วอยู่เป็นเพื่อนกัน เขียนอีเมลมาทักทายกันตลอดเวลาที่อาร์ตอยู่ที่ Mysore แล้วเจอกันครับในห้องฝึก Namaste.
